Two White Sox pitching prospects of note made their returns from the injured list on Friday:
*Mason Adams, whose Triple-A debut on Aug. 10 was marred by uncharacteristic wildness before departing with a trainer in the fourth inning, returned to the mound for Charlotte and threw three scoreless innings that looked a lot more like it. Namely, he only struck out one, but he didn't walk anybody because he threw 30 of 44 pitches for strikes. Statcast only had him at 91-92, which is about a tick lower than usual, but he struggled to hit 90 toward the end of his last start, so it's progress.
*Seth Keener, who was last seen on July 4 leaving a start against Fayetteville after 1 2/3 innings because he walked four batters and hit three others, had the more complicated task of returning from a long layoff at a new level. The Brooklyn Cyclones batted him around while batting through in Keener's first High-A inning, scoring five runs while sending nine to the plate. He bounced back with a scoreless second inning, due in large part to Casey Saucke cutting down Nick Morabito at home after he walked, took second on a balk and stole third.

Keener, the White Sox's third-round pick out of Wake Forest in 2023, had posted a 3.36 ERA with 75 strikeouts over 64⅓ innings with Kannapolis, so he was ticketed to return to Winston-Salem as a Dash instead of a Demon Deacon to start next season regardless. The Dash's season is over after next week, so while the numbers may be grisly, there's no real harm in a head start.
