Good morning!

The last week has seen two White Sox prospects make their MLB debuts: Chase Meidroth acquitted himself well against his former organization last Friday, April 11th while Edgar Quero had a quiet afternoon

As Jim wrote in the Red Sox game recap linked above, Meidroth joined some elite company by becoming the only rookie call-up since Larry Walker made his debut in 1989 to go 1-1 with three walks and two runs scored. Meidroth is the inspiration for this week’s quiz, even though he (ironically) doesn’t qualify for the list: he was the first Sox player to reach in all four plate appearances in his MLB debut since 2023 and just the fourth player in franchise history to do so.

Of course, 4 players doesn't provide for a particularly fun quiz, so I adjusted the Stathead parameters to look at White Sox rookies with 2 or more hits in their debut game.

That is today's Sporcle, and it gives us 45 names: how many can you get? Good luck!

Quiz Parameters

  • I’ve allotted 15 minutes for completion attempts.
  • For hints, I’ve provided the date of the game and the position the player started at in the game.

Useless information to amaze, annoy, confuse, and/or confound your friends and family:

  • The White Sox are 27-16 in these games (there are two instances where two players debuted on the same date).
  • The shortstop to debut on 4/17/1930 is the oldest player on the list (29 years, 116 days).
  • As you may have noticed, four of the players on this list were pitchers.
