Charlotte Knights vs. Nashville Sounds
Jim Margalus / Sox Machine

When I mentioned on social media sites that I was spending the week watching the Charlotte Knights play in Nashville, I received a couple of requests to send up a reliever or five.

I lack the authority, but even if I were granted the power to promote prospects, it's hard to see an immediate contributor in the ranks. The Knights have been walked off 11 times this year, and they nearly suffered a 12th at First Horizon Park on Wednesday. They led as much as 7-2 through five, and held a 8-5 lead going into the bottom of the ninth, only for Zach Franklin to give up three runs in his second consecutive outing.

The Knights then scored three runs in the 10th, but Chase Plymell threw just nine of 22 pitches for strikes in the bottom of the inning, and needed an on-target throw from Corey Julks -- and what looked like a wrong coin-flip call from the home plate umpire -- to escape with an 11-10 victory.

The combined line for Peyton Pallette, Ben Peoples, Franklin and Plymell: 5 IP, 7 H, 8 R, 7 ER, 6 BB, 1 K.
