The White Sox haven't done anything before an impending lockout, but sometimes you need a labor stoppage in order to make an addition.
For example, my family.
The last 16 hours or so have been my first 16 hours as a dad, as my wife gave birth to a son. Our son. Pretty crazy.
As my wife's labor passed 24 hours and a C-section looked increasingly likely, the question was whether he'd be born on Nov. 28 or Nov. 29. For most dates on the calendar, I wouldn't care. In this case, I knew Minnie Miñoso's birthday was on the latter date, while Matt Williams was the best baseball had to offer for Nov. 28, so there were no points for punctuality in this very specific aspect of the whole endeavor.
That doesn't matter, and my wife's comfort was the No. 1 priority. BUT ... if it just so happened to naturally unfold in a way that made it so he arrived on Miñoso's 97th to 100th birthday, that wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
Long story short, we heard him, then we saw him, at 12:04 a.m. on Nov. 29. If he's a White Sox fan, he's chosen wisely, at least in terms of players. He's doing well, my wife is recovering nicely, and I'm going to be on paternity leave for the next week or so.
